Connecting devices to your home network can be a bit tricky. Where do I go in my settings? What’s my Wi-Fi password? How do I connect my Smart TV? Find these answers and more below:
First: Locate Your Wi-Fi Network Name and Password.
Before doing anything else, you’ll need your network name (also known as your SSID) and password to connect your devices.
You can find this information in a couple of places:
In Your Smart Home Wi-Fi App
If you’ve opted-in to Smart Home Wi-Fi, your SSID and password can be found in the app. Tap the App Settings Icon, then the “Adapt” tab. Your SSID and password, along with other information about your network, will appear here.
On the Phone with Our Representatives
If you don’t have your network information from when your Wi-Fi was installed, and you did not opt-in to Smart Home Wi-Fi, give us a call at 1-800-431-1544. Our customer service representatives can find your network name and password with a few account details.
Second: Add Devices to Your Network
Connecting Your Computer
To connect your computer, find the Wi-Fi icon. Mac users have a cone-shaped icon, and PC users have a series of bars.
Click the Wi-Fi icon. You should see a list of Wi-Fi networks available. You may need to click “Other Networks” or something similar to see more network names. Find and click on your SSID. Type in your password and click “Join,” “Connect,” or whatever your computer displays to finish.
Connecting Your Smart Phone or Tablet
For Apple IOS Devices: go to your “Settings” app and tap “Wi-Fi.”
If Wi-Fi is turned off, toggle it on.
From the list of available networks, tap your network name and enter your password. Tap “Join” to connect.
For Android Devices: go to “Apps” and tap “Settings.” In the Settings App, tap Wi-Fi. If off, tap the “off” button to toggle it on.
Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks, enter your password, and tap “Connect.”
Connecting Your Smart TV
There are several Smart TV options available, but most follow these steps to connect to Wi-Fi:
- Navigate to your TV’s “Network Settings.” Depending on your TV, this may be called something else.
- Locate your Wi-Fi Network Name.
- Enter your password and start streaming!
Connecting Other Smart Devices
Have a smart coffee maker, smart assistant, or another Internet-connected device? You might need the item’s app to get connected. You can check the device’s user manual or search for a tutorial on your newly connected laptop!
